A Poem

There are times we wonder

What we would have done

Where this life would have taken us

Who we would have been.

There are times we ache for

The paths we didn’t take

The choices we didn’t make

The situations we wished to escape.

There are times we reminisce about

The people who left us behind

The withered moments of joy

The eyes that used to shine.

There are times we wonder

What we should have done

Where this life should have taken us

Who we should have been.

There are times we mourn

That person so full of life

That heart so willing to love

That soul so eager to follow the light.

There are times we regret

The darkness we let in

The shame we embraced in suffering

The self-loathing we planted in our gardens.

There are times we wonder
